SUNLAKES REPUBLICAN CLUB JUNE 12TH MEETING
The Sun Lakes Republican Club will feature “AZ State of the State and Elections 2012” with Secretary of State Ken Bennett at its monthly meeting Tuesday, June 12th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Arizona Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. The public is invited!
Now that another Legislative Session has ended, what impact will it have on you and your family? Ken Bennett will discuss the recent legislative successes of the AZ budget process and important state tax reforms which will make our state more attractive to employers who create jobs, as well as what still needs to be done to improve the state of our state during this election year. The potential adverse impact of ObamaCare, if not repealed, on our state’s finances and health programs will also be discussed. Recent redistricting changes and the upcoming elections affect every citizen. Come and hear Ken’s recipe for keeping our state on the right track and his assessment of where we stand compared to other states.
Ken Bennett was appointed by Governor Jan Brewer to replace her as secretary of state, and took the oath of office on Jan. 26, 2009. Bennett is an Arizona native who was born in Tucson and graduated from ASU with an accounting degree. His record of public service spans 25 years and includes four terms in the state Senate, including four years as Senate President. Prior to joining the Legislature, Bennett was a member of the State Board of Education for seven years, and also served on the AZ Charter Schools Board for three years. He worked in the private sector from 1985 to 2006 as CEO of Bennett Oil Company, a family fuel distribution business. He has also worked with companies in the development of alternative energy sources and energy-efficient building technologies.
